SCOTT MARTELLE, a veteran journalist, has covered a wide range of stories, from local government to presidential campaigns to book reviews. His freelance work has appeared in Sierra magazine, Orange Coast, Hour Detroit, the UAW's Solidarity and Teaching Tolerance, as well as the New York Times and other newspapers. He teaches journalism at Chapman University and narrative storytelling at UC Irvine, and is the author of Blood Passion: The Ludlow Massacre and Class War in the American West.
